    About Louisiana Opportunity Zones

Louisiana has 150 designated Qualified Opportunity Zones across 54 parishes, with the largest concentrations in Orleans Parish (New Orleans), East Baton Rouge, and Caddo Parish (Shreveport). Louisiana's OZ footprint reflects the state's economic geography, from the post-Katrina recovery and revitalization challenges of New Orleans to the petrochemical corridor along the Mississippi River and rural communities across North Louisiana and the Bayou region.

New Orleans OZs have attracted significant investor interest driven by the city's cultural economy, tourism, and ongoing neighborhood revitalization. Multifamily housing, boutique hospitality, and mixed-use projects in neighborhoods like Central City, the Lower Ninth Ward, and Gentilly have drawn Qualified Opportunity Fund capital. Baton Rouge's zones offer a different profile, healthcare, higher education, and petrochemical-adjacent commercial opportunities. Shreveport's zones present lower-cost entry points in a market benefiting from the region's film and energy industries.

All OZ 1.0 designations remain in effect through December 31, 2028. Louisiana's unique cultural assets, port infrastructure, and energy economy provide durable investment themes across its diverse OZ landscape.
