    About Missouri Opportunity Zones

Missouri has 161 designated Qualified Opportunity Zones across 66 counties and the City of St. Louis, with the largest concentrations in St. Louis City, Jackson County (Kansas City), and St. Louis County. Missouri's OZ program spans both its two major metros and a significant number of rural communities across the state's agricultural and Ozarks regions.

St. Louis's OZs have attracted growing investor interest, particularly in neighborhoods experiencing revitalization adjacent to the city's anchor institutions, Washington University, BJC HealthCare, and the growing technology ecosystem in the Cortex Innovation Community. Kansas City's zones offer multifamily housing, mixed-use, and light industrial opportunities in a metro that has seen strong population and economic growth. Missouri's rural zones span the Bootheel agricultural region, the Ozarks, and small manufacturing towns along the Missouri River corridor.

All OZ 1.0 designations remain in effect through December 31, 2028. Missouri's central location, affordable real estate, and improving urban cores in both major metros create a compelling investment environment for OZ capital.
