    About Kansas Opportunity Zones

Kansas has 74 designated Qualified Opportunity Zones across 54 counties, with concentrations in Wyandotte County (Kansas City, KS), Sedgwick County (Wichita), and Shawnee County (Topeka). Kansas's OZ footprint spans urban neighborhoods in its major cities alongside a large number of rural designations across the state's vast agricultural landscape.

Kansas City, KS-area OZs benefit from proximity to the broader Kansas City metro market and have attracted interest in workforce housing and mixed-use development tied to ongoing revitalization efforts in Wyandotte County. Wichita's zones offer light industrial, aerospace-adjacent commercial, and workforce housing opportunities in the nation's air capital. Topeka's zones present lower-cost redevelopment opportunities in the state capital.

All OZ 1.0 designations remain in effect through December 31, 2028. Kansas's agricultural economy, strategic central location, and growing logistics sector provide durable investment fundamentals for OZ investors with multi-year time horizons.
