Wyoming's OZ 2.0 map is final. 20 tracts are designated, effective January 1, 2027, replacing the 25 current zones, which remain in effect through December 31, 2028.
This map opens on the official 2027 designated Wyoming Opportunity Zones (deep blue), effective January 1, 2027, from the list Treasury published November 5, 2026. Use the Layers panel to see the original 2018 zones (gold, in effect through December 31, 2028), both maps together, or the non-final eligible pool. On the 2027 view, the rural toggle shows only tracts marked Rural on the official list. See every designated Wyoming tract on the 2027 list.
Wyoming has 25 designated Qualified Opportunity Zones across 10 counties, with concentrations in Laramie County (Cheyenne), Natrona County (Casper), and Fremont County. Wyoming's OZ program is among the smallest in the nation by zone count, reflecting the state's small and relatively resource-wealthy population. Zones are spread across the state's small urban centers and rural energy and agricultural communities.
Cheyenne's OZs offer workforce housing and light commercial investment opportunities in the state capital, anchored by Wyoming's government employment and growing data center sector. Casper's zones present post-oil-boom redevelopment opportunities in a market working to diversify its economy. Fremont County's zones, including areas in and around the Wind River Indian Reservation, represent significant impact investing opportunities in one of Wyoming's most economically distressed communities.
All OZ 1.0 designations remain in effect through December 31, 2028. Wyoming's zero state income tax, zero corporate income tax, and extraordinarily low tax burden overall make the federal OZ incentive particularly powerful for investors deploying capital in the state.
