    About Washington Opportunity Zones

Washington has 139 designated Qualified Opportunity Zones across 30 counties, with the largest concentrations in King County (Seattle), Pierce County (Tacoma), and Spokane County. Washington's OZ program spans its dynamic Pacific Northwest urban markets and a significant number of rural eastern Washington agricultural communities.

Seattle-area OZs have attracted substantial Qualified Opportunity Fund investment in multifamily housing and mixed-use development, driven by the region's severe housing shortage and Amazon, Microsoft, and Boeing employment base. South Seattle and White Center zones have seen the most active investment, with infill housing and commercial projects benefiting from the city's relentless housing demand. Tacoma's zones offer a value-oriented alternative to Seattle, with strong Link Light Rail connectivity, affordable land, and growing employment in healthcare, logistics, and manufacturing. Spokane's eastern Washington zones present workforce housing and light industrial opportunities in a rapidly growing mid-sized market.

All OZ 1.0 designations remain in effect through December 31, 2028. Washington's technology economy, strong in-migration, and Pacific Rim trade connectivity provide durable long-term OZ investment fundamentals.
